How to make my insult most effective?

So, i want to make fun of a bud for going to community college, instead of senior year of HS, by saying that im going to a university come fall next year, whilst he remains in his hometown Com. college. BUT, i dont know if by saying those words if my insult will "set in" or if it will just be deflected via his defenses, so should i say "ha ha - have fun in C. college...(or something like that). or should i not tell him but let him feel the pain of being a loser on his own, by showing him how much fun im having? idk much bout phyco crazy hubub, nonsense.
